From the CEO

We continue to feel the effects from the COVID-19 pandemic; however, I am happy to report that we are on an upswing from where we were last year. Staffing struggles and complex financial hurdles made 2023 one of the most challenging years many hospitals faced. We continue to encounter staffing challenges, but thanks to the strength, skill, and dedication of our staff, Eaton Rapids Medical Center (ERMC) has persisted and, in many instances, met or exceeded expectations. While there are fewer independent, rural hospitals in Michigan or the even the country, we strive to remain an independent hospital that you have come to rely on year after year. Last year, we announced a new strategic plan based on five pillars of excellent care and customer service:

COMMUNITY, STAFF, QUALITY, GROWTH, AND FINANCE.

This plan was created through intensive stakeholder collaboration and incorporates input and expertise from ERMC board members, department managers, executive leaders, and medical staff. The result is a comprehensive three-year roadmap to help us meet our goals and objectives, expand and upgrade our facility, and ensure we serve as effective stewards of community health. One metric we continue to review is our patient satisfaction scores and we continue to have some of the highest scores in the country. We rely on you to tell us how we are doing and listen to how we can continue to improve.

I want to thank all of you, our patients. We couldn’t be prouder that you trust us with you and your family’s healthcare. We will continue to strive to be the hospital that you trust.

If you have any thoughts, ideas or opinions on the future of Eaton Rapids Medical Center or our strategic path, please share them with me directly via email at [email protected]. I would love to hear from you.

Your Hospital CEO,

Timothy J. Johnson
